Since 1986, Welborn Health Plans (WHP) has been a part of the Evansville/Tri-State community. With a strong local presence and deep community roots, WHP is known for its expertise in providing fully-insured health benefits to community organizations, with an emphasis on preventive healthcare and personalized, face-to-face service. We deliver local, comprehensive, integrated services to help employers minimize costs while offering rich medical benefit options to their employees. We are recognized for our customized, flexible plan designs, with innovative options and features. WHP provides the only locally based health benefits program with multiple funding options to meet employer group’s healthcare and wellness needs – now and in the future.

Promoting Employee Wellness

Welborn Health Plans’ mission is to promote healthy lifestyles for plan members. We offer members resources and tools to improve their healthcare decision-making, we provide nurses on-site on a regularly scheduled basis and we routinely provide on-site health screenings to identify members’ health conditions and risks. Supporting this mission is our dedicated team of healthcare professionals. This team in Evansville includes Medical Doctors, Registered Nurses, licensed dieticians, personal trainers and health coaches.

Medical Management

Our company offers progressive Medical Management solutions that avert high-cost procedures and in-patient hospitalization— but only when less extensive treatment corresponds with the best possible care and the healthiest outcomes. We have over 200 nurses on staff, including 30 nurses in our Evansville location who visit Deaconess and St. Mary’s hospitals daily. This face-to-face availability to members is unique and not only helps to control costs, but gives members and their families the professional and caring attention they need during a very stressful time.

Plan Design and Administration

Welborn Health Plans will work closely with you to design a flexible health plan with affordable options matching your employees’ diverse lifestyles and your company’s long-term goals.

We will routinely monitor the performance of your health plan to identify areas in which improvements may be made. You will have access to standard reports, up-dating you on plan performance, with the option to create customized report formats to better support your decision-making.

We have in place a comprehensive local network of healthcare providers that includes conveniently located, credentialed physicians and specialists. In addition, we have an optional national wrap-around network to provide nationwide access to over 575,000 physicians and hospitals. This will ensure that your employees and retirees will have in-network providers anywhere in the country. The design and maintenance of these networks will always reflect the fundamental importance of the patient-physician relationship.

As a result of close relationships with local providers, our employers receive access to the deepest provider discounts available in the market place. The local provider community acknowledges that as a local plan (that is not publicly traded), we are in a unique position to pass on the provider discounts directly to our employers (not to Wall Street investors). This allows our local employers to reinvest those savings into their businesses thereby creating additional jobs, productivity and investment in the Evansville area.
